The Bridge to What Was Lost is about the loss of my mother to cancer: the journey from discovery, through the battle, to the ultimate loss. She was someone I never thought about losing. She was my north star, my law of gravity, and without her I was so lost. My entire life fell apart for a while as I coped and fought my own battle to conceive what had happened. The fight was so hard and so intense, and at the end I was angry and confused. I let it affect not just me but my relationships with almost everyone I knew and loved. Time helps, but it has never really healed the chasm in my heart. I hope these songs help others who are trying to cope with things that others just can't understand. It's our own personal journey, and it truly is only our innermost self that holds it, unknown to anyone else. When I recorded this, I wanted the tracks to be mostly acoustic instrumentation, with a depth of texture and tempos. It is my sincerest hope that others can use this emotional palette to cope.
